Purpose
To evaluate the concentration of sFas in serum of uveitis patients. Material and methods Serum samples were collected from 13 patients with uveitis and 12 controls. All patients have underwent ophthalmic and laboratory examinations. The sFas levels were determined by immunoenzymatic Results We found statistically increased levels of sFas in serum of patients with uveitis compared with controls. Conclusions Our results suggest a systemic nature of uveitis with persistent activation of the immune system. Apoptosis may play regulatory role in ocular inflammation of patients with uveitis. keywords:
