The aim of this work is to present the most important bioethical problems in terms of well-being during a disease, and ethical dilemmas, which may occur in palliative care. The key issue in ethical-philosophical discourse on end-of-life care is patients’ request to terminate life-sustaining therapies or to undergo euthanasia due to their unbearable suffering. The author interprets suffering and its place in the modern culture, discusses the decision to terminate one’s life, and then presents an alternative – palliative care, which ensures well-being during a disease.
