The healthcare offered to elderly people should be oriented at the possibly broadest approach to their needs, using research tools designed
for this. This paper presents some of them, with concentration on the Camberwell Assessment of Need for the Elderly (CANE). The aim
of CANE is to identity elderly patient’s needs. The tool can be a part of routine clinical nursing practice and clinical trials as well.
