Introduction. The law about State Medical Life-saving has on aim the improvement of functioning in Poland the medical life-saving service
and rescue integrated system.

Aim. The aim of the research was to define the median, the third quartile, the maximum time of arrival at the emergency scene of ambulances teams.

Materials and methods. Medical documentation (departure order card) of Ambulance Service in Słupsk from the years 1998, 1999, 2005-2007 was used in the research.

Results. In 1998 the ambulance station team arrived to a patient within the town limits the most often within 10 and 13 minutes, in 1999
within 10 minutes, in 2005 and 2006 within 6 minutes, and in 2007 within 5 minutes. Arrival time to the area outside of the town was mostly
about 21 minutes in 1998, but in 1999 year between 15 and 20 minutes. In the other years the time of arrival became gradually shorter and
in 2007 it was only 11 minutes.

Conclusions. The prolonged waiting time for an ambulance was caused by lack of dislocation of ambulances in 1998–1999, by lack of
substations for the boroughs of Główczyce and Smołdzino in 2005-2006 and by extensive operational region for medical emergency teams
from Ambulance Station in Słupsk and from substation in Potęgowo.
