Introduction:
Oral isotretinoin is a widely used drug in the management of acne vulgaris. The common adverse event that occurs during therapy is excessive skin dryness linked with a stinging and burning sensation. Proper dermocosmetics may help to alleviate these symptoms.

Objective:
This study aimed to evaluate whether Effaclar H Iso-Biome cream and washing cream are safe and effective products to use along with an isotretinoin regimen.

Material and methods:
During a 12-week observational period, the group of 109 patients with moderate to severe acne vulgaris was instructed to use Effaclar H Iso-Biome preparations twice daily as an adjunct to isotretinoin therapy. The severity of acne was graded according to the GEA score (Global Acne Severity Scale) at screening and evaluation visits.

Results:
48.6% of studied patients achieved improvement of 2 or more grades on the GEA score (p < 0.05). There was a significant reduction in erythema and dryness (61.6% and 58.9%, respectively). At the evaluation visit, there was a marked improvement in the quality of life. The tolerance of treatment was rated as high or excellent in 97.3% of patients.

Conclusions:
Effaclar H Iso-Biome cream and Effaclar H Iso-Biome washing cream are well-tolerated and safe products that improve the side effects of oral isotretinoin therapy.
