Dear Friends,
We have just finished over two years of fighting the coronavirus, and already in February a new problem appeared in Eastern Europe. All this means that our current, relatively peaceful life takes on a different character, and we look at the world from a completely different perspective.
However, we cannot allow our scientific activity to be stopped – it is constantly working for the better life of our future generations. And as you can see, medicine without science can turn out to be helpless in the face of emerging new threats.
Fortunately, our authors do not disappoint us. We constantly receive scientific articles, the substantive value of which reaches higher and higher levels. Meta-analyses have already become a permanent feature. I encourage you to read some very interesting papers in the field of bariatrics, including the first results of the Polish national multicentre study on revision procedures (PROSS). There are also works concerning MIS of the oesophagus and spleen pathology. Additionally, there is a new element of scientific discussion within our new “Editorial materials” section.
Hoping the next editorial will be written in normal times, I wish you all a quick return to normality, as well as great weather and long relaxation during your vacation time after another year of hard work in the operating room.

With kindest regards,
Prof. Jacek Szeliga
