Introduction
Evaluation of the secretion of the tears in young CF patients. Material and methods We examined group of 18 CF patients and control group of 18 patients. The patients were evaluated systemically and examined for surface changes and Schirmer test. Results We observed abnormal Schirmer test in 81% of CF patients. The mean value of Schirmer test was 9.6±5.5 mm in the CF group and 25.0±3.0 mm in the control group. The difference was statistically significant. Conclusions The cystic fibrosis patients have the hyposecretion of tear fluid. Schirmer test may be used in evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of the ocular changes in CF patients. keywords:
