Dear Readers

I am pleased to hand the third issue of Archives of Medical Science (AMS) over to you. I hope the articles included are interesting for you and will encourage you to become familiar with the following issues of AMS. I am waiting for your suggestions and opinions. I will be glad to receive any comments or letters to Editors regarding the manuscripts we have already published. This form of communication between authors and readers is the best way to exchange opinions and take up the matter-of-fact debate.
The third issue of Archives of Medical Science is exceptional. More manuscripts accepted for publications come form Lodz, my home town. It is not a coincidence. I have just invited all scientists from Lodz to send me their manuscripts and outcomes of their noteworthy studies and researches. The most interesting ones – according to the opinion of our Reviewers – are presented in the third and, partially, in the fourth issue of AMS.
Our aim is to present Lodz, local scientific life, Polish great scientists and native science in general. It is connected to the fact that we can often meet the situation when our great manuscripts are withdrawn from high quality journals, mainly because the Author is unknown or comes from Eastern (or Central) Europe, or his research centre is not a leading one in this discipline of medical science.
I would like to thank for great help Dr. Jacek Rysz from the 2nd Department of Family Medicine, Medical University in Lodz, Poland. Without his help there would be no possibility to carry out this daring, in my opinion, project.
I am very happy that in the second issue we can publish next great articles written by young researchers. I hope it is going to stimulate other young scientists to send us their manuscripts, and to present the outcomes of their studies in AMS. We are waiting for you. I would like also to ask all these young people whose manuscripts were rejected, to use the reviewers’ comments as guidelines during their next research in order to avoid such mistakes and to work harder and harder to receive essential results which may carry new facts in nowadays medicine.
I would also like to invite all scientists to join our Review Board. In my opinion it is a great chance to widen their knowledge and to meet great scientists from all over the world. You should simply put your personal information on the web site: www.ams.termedia.pl in section New reviewer. Once again I would like to invite all who think they would be able to review the manuscripts from the branch of medicine they specialize in.
I would like to thank all our Editorial Board for their hard review work. Special thanks to the Publishing Editor – Ms Miroslawa Huk, for her well-aimed advice and commitment. I am happy to announce that the average period of the review process of the manuscripts accepted for the second number was about 3 weeks. All the members of the Editorial Board of Archives of Medical Science deserve credit for this achievement.
I hope that thanks to the help from our Readers, and all people cooperating with us, Archives of Medical Science will develop to be one of the most important scientific journals in our region.
Nice reading!

With friendly greetings
