Vision impairment among elderly population is currently a major health issue as well as a social problem. It often affects their emotional, mental, social and physical well-being as well as ability to everyday functioning. The most common causes of this situation are: age related macular degeneration (AMD), cataract, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy. Most of these medical conditions are initially asymptomatic and painless. Early diagnosis and appropriate medical therapy can maintain or restore satisfactory visual acuity.
