With the development of the systems biology concept proteomic and metabolomic studies have become even
more attractive. The advancement in separation methods of proteins and metabolites, and particularly the progress that has been made in the field of mass spectrometry significantly facilitated high-throughput analyses and substantially increased both quality and quantity of the data. In this short review we discuss some aspects of the analytical strategies used in proteome and metabolome research in which mass spectrometry plays a crucial role. |
