Estimation connection between quality of nursing care and patient’s satisfaction in the final stage of disease

Introduction. The peculiar medicine domain is palliative care, which consists in symptomatic treatment of patients being in the final
stage of their disease. The main task of this attention is to take care of the best possible quality of patient’s life. Providing comfort of
life for ill people in declining period of theirs illness is the primal principle of palliative care and moral duty of each therapeutical team
member.

Aim of the study. The aim of this dissertation was estimation connection between quality of nursing care and patient’s satisfaction in the
final stage of disease.

Material and methods. Research about quality of nursing care was carried out by method of diagnostic poll, there were used observation,
interview, documents analyses techniques and inquiry. The sheet of estimation wrought by Krukowski on the basis of Lenartowicz questionnaire
and questionnaire of inquiry to estimate of patient’s satisfaction level wrought by Majkowicz and de Walden-Gałuszko and modified
by authors were the research tools.

There were surveyed 60 patient who were in two stationery hospices in the period May 2010–January 2011.

Results and conclusions. There are received conclusions on the basis of conducted researches: 1. Satisfaction of the patients in the final
stage of the disease depends on the quality of nursing care the higher level of care quality, the higher level of patient’s satisfaction. 2. The
period of ranged patients palliative care has impact on patient’s satisfaction in the final stage of their disease. The satisfaction of the patients
being in the palliative care units, where care is on high level, is higher during the passing time. 3. Terminology unification and implementation
classification for everyday nursing practice services will increase the level of this care.
