Pityriasis rubra pilaris (PRP) is a rare, chronic, papulosquamous dermatosis. Etiology of this disorder is unclear. Diagnosis of PRP is still problematic due to the lack of specific laboratory tests and often non-pathognomonic histology findings in skin biopsies. We present a 39-year-old man with PRP, who developed typical, PRP-like skin lesions followed by phototesting (photoreproduction). The aim of this paper is to suggest a potential role of early phototesting in patients suspected of PRP with diagnostic difficulties.
