Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a common disorder among Polish patients. It is also a reason for frequent treatment search due to the symptoms. However, as it is widely estimated, factors underlying the disease should be carefully identified. At present, there are several therapeutic strategies widely recognized of whose the one inhibiting stomach acid production are a basic strategy. Other drugs and medical products improve the above mentioned strategies which can individualize overall therapy dependent on needs, style of life as well as life activity. Consecutively, identifying and eliminating underlying factors is very important such as low physical activity and bad diet. The article summarizes up-to date knowledge helpful for individualizing GERD strategies.
