Two cases of lethal complications caused by iatrogenic perforation of the transverse colon and iatrogenic injury of the abdominal aorta after laparoscopic cholecystectomy are presented. Both of them occurred during insufflation with the help of a Veress needle. They differed in their clinical course but both of them were essentially caused by a technical mistake committed by the operator. These lethal complications happened to an experienced group of 2 surgeons who performed 45-th and 215-th laparoscopic cholecystectomy in their career respectively. The presented lethal complications of laparoscopic cholecystectomy were observed in the 9-th and 10-th year of performing this procedure respectively.
