This paper presents the concept of a multi-level control system for Minimal Invasive Surgery. The overall system is based on the Staubli robot RX60 which plays the role of a robotic assistant for surgeons performing laparoscopy. The desired movements of the end-effector are obtained by the movements of a joystick.
