Obesity and urinary incontinence are serious health problems adversely affecting quality of life among women. About 15-50% of women suffer from urinary incontinence. Obesity is a health problem of over 50% of women and a risk factor for urinary incontinence. Aim of the study: The purpose of this study was to examine the association between obesity and urinary incontinence in a group of 105 women having urodynamic investigation. Material and methods: The study population was divided into four groups of BMI: less than 18.5; 18.5 to 24.0; 25.0 to 29.0; and 30.0 or higher. Results: Obesity was reported by 86.6% of women. Conclusions: Our investigation proved that obesity is an objective risk factor of urinary incontinence. Knowledge of urinary incontinence risk factors allows one to recognize and to treat the disease.
