Patient and patient’s family on intensive care department

Introduction. Intensive therapeutic ward is place where are patients whose lives are in danger. Care for ill persons demands using high
specialistic medical equipments, is lead by therapy team group. Members of this group have proper skills which they acquired during many
instructions.
Staying patients in intensive therapeutic ward is for their family very stressful, full of apprehensions, frights and uncertainties. Feelings of
patient’s family which are connected with visits in intensive therapeutic warn depends on help and support which they receive from
medical staff in hospital.

Aim of the study. The main purpose of this study is search members’ of patient’s family feelings. The family which can see their relative
who is connected with medical equipments.
For people who the first time have so close contact with high specialistic medical apparatuses are surprised because of many activities
for example: control entrances, protective cloth wearing, washing and disinfection of hands before and after visits.

Material and methods. The searches which were led among relatives who were visiting ill people in intensive therapeutic ward showed
that looking at relatives who are connected with medical apparatuses causes a lo of negative feelings.
Wyniki. The most terrific thing is medical equipment which is around patient’s bed (60% people who were asked said that). People were
surprised of changed appearance of patient (25% respondents) and they hope that medical equipment can cause coming back ill
person to full health (60% respondents).
Resulsts. During next visits relatives accustom to see ill person and to hear ward’s sounds. Members of family become more active with
patient and they cooperative with hospital staff.
