PlumX metrics:
Pressure ulcers arises mainly as a result of two processes: occlusion of blood vessels by pressure acting from outside and microvascular endothelial damage caused by the shear forces. The most vulnerable group for their occurrence are covered by long-term care patients and patients staying in the intensive care unit. Number of immobilized continues to grow, thereby bedsores are becoming an increasing problem for the modern nursing.
