Gastrointestinal malignancies are an important cause of morbidity and mortality in renal transplant recipients. In addition to established risk factors there are several specific for the treatment modality, including long-term immunosuppression and viral infections. This review article describes gastrointestinal malignancies occurring after renal transplantation including epidemiology, risk factors, pathogenesis, treatment and screening.
