Purpose
To evaluate the influence of local and systemic factors on diabetic maculopathy course, according to the vitreous adherence to the retina or its’ lack. Ocular diabetic complications are among the most frequent causes of vision deterioration and blindness in adults in well developed countries. Diabetic maculopathy is the major condition decreasing vision in patients with type 2 of diabetes mellitus. Material and methods The study group consisted of 137 eyes in patients with type 2 of diabetes mellitus. Conclusions All parameters analysis showed, that: better functional and anatomical results of the laser photocoagulation were achieved in PVD cases; vitreous adherence caused oedematic maculopathy persistence, in spite of properly performed laser photocoagulation; vitreo-retinal tractions presence was associated with more frequent oedematic maculopathy occurrence.
