Aim
Health behaviours are the key problem in health promotion and disease prevention. They are shaped the whole life through; starting from early childhood, they decide about the quality of our lives. 30% of the adult Polish population is characterized by a low level of physical activity, which contributes to the increasing occurrence of civilisation diseases. The aim of the study was to assess the relationship between the health activity and the occurrence of diseases in people of working age. Material and methods 120 people of working age were included in the research. To investigate health behaviours, the Inventory of Health Behaviours (IZZ) by Juczyński Z. was used, and to assess physical activity, the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ in the long version) was used Biernat E. Results Women more often than men had proper eating habits (p = 0.048). Respondents aged less than 35 years were less likely to undertake preventive behaviour than those in older age (p = 0.046). The analysis of the data showed a statistically significant difference between women and men in physical activity undertaken in their free time (p = 0.044). Men were more active. The subjects who were professionally active were characterized by a higher level of physical activity in relation to professionally inactive people (p = 0.002). Conclusions Socio-demographic data (gender, age, education) have an impact on health and physical activity of people in working age. Health behaviours are more rarely manifested by people who run a sedative lifestyle. keywords:
