Negative pressure wound therapy or vacuum therapy is successfully used in many branches of medicine for years and the list of its uses is constantly growing. Its most common usage is in the treatment of sharp and chronic wounds. It is used in diabetic foot syndrome, necrotizing fasciitis, soft tissues traumas, burns, ulcers and hardly curing postoperative wounds. This method depends on creating negative pressure inside the wound, lower than atmospheric pressure. Negative pressure improves microcirculation at the bottom of the wound, stimulates creation of new capillaries, proliferation of cells and forming granulation tissues inside the wound.
