The problem of arterial hypertension, which constitutes a major risk factor for cardiovascular disorders, affects 29% of Poles, and 30% of
them run the risk of developing this disease in future. The competence of nurses includes diagnosis, assessment and prevention of health
threats, counselling and conducting health care education including health life style, and carrying out programs within the scope of health
advocacy and prevention.

In the nursing process of people who run the risk of arterial hypertension it is crucial to formulate a nursing diagnosis reflecting the risk of
a patient. This diagnosis is formulated by a nurse based on the analysis of information obtained in the process of taking the patient’s medical
history, their physical examination, the measurements of vital signs and observation.

An accurate and reliable nursing diagnosis conditions the subsequent scope and form of nursing that is oriented to maintain the optimal
body mass, reduce the intake of salt, saturated fats and alcohol, give up smoking, as well as to ensure optimal physical activity and show how
to cope with stress.
