Bezpieczeństwo pacjenta i personelu medycznego w pracowni rezonansu magnetycznego

Magnetic resonance imaging finds more and more applications in clinical practice. It is associated with a significant increase in the number of laboratory equipped with MR scanners. Both the number of people employed in magnetic resonance departments and the number of patients increases, therefore also the number of people potentially exposed to risk related with the magnetic field. Therefore, knowledge about safety at work in the MR laboratory and compliance with relevant procedures are necessary. This is to ensure protection of patients and people working in the magnetic field environment against potential risks associated with the possibility of adverse events.

To understand them, it is necessary to have basic knowledge of the physical and technical aspects of this imaging method, knowledge of the principles of functioning of the MR department, rules of proper qualification, patient preparation for the examination and the principles of proper MR and post-test examination patient care. The aim of the following article is to bring all these aspects closer. The types of hazard zones occurring in the magnetic field environment, the applied signs of compatibility of medical devices used in MR laboratories and absolute and relative contraindications to magnetic resonance imaging will be discussed. In addition, the article contains information about specificity of MR research in pregnant women, in puerperium, during hormonal therapy. A separate part of the article briefly discusses the contrast agents used in magnetic resonance and possible complications after their administration.
