Dear JCB Educational Corner Readers,
We are all aware of the current pandemic’s changes in our lives, both in a personal and professional fields. We all must stay strong and help each other whenever possible.
As a part of our commitment to further improve our Journal, we contacted you earlier last year regarding your involvement in shaping the JCB. We emphasized that the content and high quality of published manuscripts are our main priorities, but also that we would like you, dear Readers, to advise us on what sort of content would you like to see in the Journal. We re-launched JCB Educational Corner (EC) as part of our strategy. We also kindly asked you to participate in a short online survey. The survey goal was to learn about your preferences and suggestions for the future content of the JCB. In the second part of the survey, we asked you to rate potential topics from the pre-selected list of choices. We had been made aware of these suggestions from your earlier communication with the Editors. In the survey, we also asked you to share your ideas and the possible topics that you would like to see or contribute to in the form of EC. The link to the survey was active for nine months.
We want to share with you the results of the survey. We have received 45 responses. Thirty-one responders rated EC and its’ usefulness as 8-10 out of 10, the highest score. Thirty-three responders would like to see more topics on clinical brachytherapy, followed by medical physics, QA, and interventional procedures. When we asked, “Which tumor sites or themes are of the most interest to you?” (multiple answers were allowed), 32 replies confirmed interest in prostate, followed by gynecology (31), skin (26), GI (23), breast (19), H&N (15), soft tissue sarcomas (7), palliative management (10), and four replies each for pediatric tumors and lung. The majority of the responders supported incorporating quiz-type questions in EC and increased JCB presence on social media. Your preference was for LinkedIn (15 responses), followed by Twitter (13), Facebook (9), and Instagram (5).
Many of the responders have already expressed their interest in writing manuscripts on pre-selected topics in the survey. Others have brought their suggestions and ideas to the future content of EC. On behalf of the JCB Editorial Board, we would like to thank all the responders for their time and invaluable input. We are currently contacting prospective authors of the Top 5...
