Introduction. More and more pronounced in health care facilities for migrants to different consequences both for themselves and for the health system and for health care professionals. There is no doubt that health care professionals before appears a number of new tasks related to culturally diverse “care”; They play in this process and will play a central role. Aim of the study. The aim of this study is to understand how opinions of nurses on the need to develop cultural competence in working with the patient. Material and methods. In this method a survey tool, and the tool was a questionnaire survey author, which contained 10 questions and substantive general 8 questions. Results. In the test group only almost half of the respondents (47,2 %) comes into contact with the term cultural skills. Until 91.5% of respondents claimed that in their work is needed nurse of knowledge of other cultures. Knowledge of effects of different cultures on health, disease (57.5 %), and skills identify problems arising from cultural differences (59,4%) and attitude overcoming attitude etnocentrycznej, prejudices, stereotypes (59,4%). Conclusions. It is important to have some knowledge of the occupational nurse of other cultures. Knowledge of the language, respect and recognition of cultural differences, the only certain attitudes and skills to nurse to establish contact with a person with a different culture. Almost all respondents were not previously prepared for effective contact with the person with a different culture. keywords:
