Own control of life of patients with relapse of cancer and their emotions and quality of life

Introduction
Psychological control as individual belief to poses emotional, cognitive and behavioral abilities to cope with oncological treatment is the main impact factor on feelings and quality of life of the patients withe relapse of cancer.

Aim and study
The purpose of our reseach is to evaluate the impact of patients’ control of life on their feelings and quality of life during the treatment of relapse of cancer.

Material and methods
Two groups of patients with first relapse of cancer (100 women and 100 men) participated in the study. They were treated in Katowice Cancer Center of 2014 to 2017. The patients filled 3 quantitative questionnaires: Questionnaire of Perceived Control of Life (for independent variable), HADS and QLQ-30 (for dependent variables).

Results and conclusions
The path analysis of own control of life in women’s group demonstrates significant impact on the dependant variables – emotions and quality of life. Low level of their behavioral and cognitive problems reduces their anxiety and depression. Primary control and secondary control influence strongly and positively. women’s appraisal of quality of life, negatively first of all their marital relationship. Examined women suffer the distruction of marital and grandmother’s aims, plans, dreams. In group of examined men the low level of emotional control increases men’s depression but their behavioral control reduces their anxiety. The control of own life doesn’t influece significantly men’s appraisal of quality of life. Somatic and cognitive problems, lack of marital intimacy are the main factors which reduce the level of men’s quality of life.
