Introduction:
The COVID-19 pandemic has been a challenge for healthcare system and caused overloading of hospital staff. Herein we present an assessment of the occupational stress and anxiety in the coordinating nurse during the COVID-19 epidemic.

Material and methods:
The case study method was used in the study. The study was conducted in October 2020, and the subject was the coordinating nurse working in an intensive care unit (ICU) in Krakow. The author’s questionnaire, the GAD-7 generalized anxiety questionnaire by Spitzer, and the Occupational Stress Indicator (OSI-2) questionnaire by Widerszal-Bazyl were used.

Results:
The nurse showed clinically significant symptoms of generalized anxiety disorder. The global indicator of sources of tension in the nurse totalled 229 points, sten 10, and it was high in comparison with the norms of Polish managers.

Conclusions:
Fighting the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in the occurrence of a clinically significant level of generalized anxiety disorder and a high level of stress in the coordinating nurse.
