Introduction: Grief and orphaned periods are processes that are extended in time and have to course and a great personality.

Aim of the study: To determine the social perception of certain aspects during the period of mourning and orphaning.

Material and methods: The study included 150 randomly selected persons, and we used an original questionnaire constinting (I part – 6 questions of general, II part – 12 specific).

Results: Most respondents indicated that they received from family the presence (63.3%) and (28.6%) conversation during the mourning. According to 35.3% of respondents, support was not sufficient and 44% of respondents reported a lack of support. Both 35.33% of men and 54% of women indicated that the best way to survive grieving is finding a friend. Average sore of well-being of all surveyed after the loss of a loved one was 4.8 ±1.6, indicating that they felt considerable discomfort after the loss of loved ones.

Conclusions: More than one-third of the respondents received support, which did not meet their expectations. In Poland, there is no properly support for families during mourning, and those orphaned after a period of mourning. For most respondents, support/assistance is the opportunity to talk and show interest during the period of mourning/respondents. According to the respondents, the best way to survival grief is ‘finding a friend’.
