Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are among the most commonly used drugs in clinical practice. In addition to the undeniable benefits to patients with pain, they may also induce side effects associated with inhibiting the synthesis of cytoprotective prostaglandins in the gastrointestinal tract. To effectively counteract gastrointestinal complications, it is important to individualise the choice of drug, ascertain its correct dosage, and avoid adverse interactions with other simultaneously used drugs.
