The problem of arterial hypertension, which is an important risk factor of cardiovascular disorders, concerns 32% of Poles and 30% of the
population are at risk of developing this disease in the future, hence the need to implement extensive preventive measures. Lifestyle modification,
including the change of eating habits, creates an opportunity to reduce the risk of hypertension development. Nurses can play an important role in this process.

Current guidelines include reducing salt, saturated fat and alcohol intake and increasing the supply of vegetables and fruit. DASH diet, recommended by most scientific societies in the world, is of particular importance in the prevention of hypertension.
